I really love this bike. It’s a very nice ride and seems quite durable. Also, it is VERY lightweight for a bike.
A few things:
1) No shocks. This is a characteristic of a true road bike, however even on bumpy road surfaces there can be some shock in your wrists/arms. It’s not too bad though- I’d definitely still buy the same bike again.
2) Some assembly required. You’ve gotta put the front tire, handlebars, and seat on. It’s not too bad a job. Just turn the bike upside down when you’re ready to put the wheel on- it’ll be easier. I set it up, and everything came out true. I tightened the nuts and bolts (you’ve gotta have a multi-tool, or hex wrench #5) and took it for a ride.
3) After riding for the first few times, you’ve gotta re-tighten all the nuts and bolts, or the bike may fall apart on you. It’s not just this particular bike though–you’d have to retighten on any bicycle that you self assemble, and that is brand new.
4) Schwinn makes a good product. The logo on the front even says “Schwinn Quality.” The components seem sturdy and I haven’t had to replace any of them.
5) Get a bell and a light.
6) If you don’t get a rear fender, get a basket or a rear rack. Since fenders don’t come standard on this bike (similar to most), you’ll want something on the back to protect you from getting wet should you ride on rainy days.
7) The flat bar system is really good, and the shifters are super easy to use- not like those cheap mountain bikes where you have to twist the thing in the handlebar. This bike has separate fixtures which shift the gears (quality Shimano stuff), and they work well.
9) The bike comes with extra long reflectors attached to the wheel spokes- it’s a nice touch.
10) The seat is a bit uncomfortable at first, but once you’re used to it it’s not bad at all.
11) The 700C tires are very nice. They seem to be good quality tires for standard on a new purchase. They roll nice and easy, and it’s much easier to get going quick on these 700C’s than on fat mountain/hybrid bike tires. Along with that, however, you must be careful not to go around corners too fast on a rainy day, or brake too hard going down a hill on a rainy day.
This bike has really worked well for me. I plan to continue using it for commuting and daily errand running.

I ordered this bike after visiting a few bike stores and looking at the Target bike which was the Schwinn Hybrid. I switched from a heavy mountain bike which I used to use for commuting to this.
I love this bike. It offers a light comfortable ride. It did not take long to assemble this. For the price this has been a great value. A similar bike this would be > $450. The gear shifts are very smooth. The seat is comfortable. All in all very pleased. Also could not beat the free shipping!

Overall, I am satisfied with the bike. I would also recommend it others. Many of my follow-on comments here appear on other bike reviews, but are worth heeding. To judge how similar you are to me, I was looking for a relatively inexpensive bike that I could use to commute to work when desired (10 miles each way) in the DC metro area. I also wanted a bike for sidewalk/street use to tote my children around (pulling a trailer). The bike works great for those tasks. I am not a fitness nut, and haven’t regularly exercised for a few years due to “life” (job, kids, laziness, etc…) but with a job change wanted to ease into exercising again while minimizing time lost from work or family. My bicycling experience goes no further than my first driver’s license. I wanted to learn the basics in biking (minor maintenance, normal riding, etc…), not train for an iron man.
The little bit of assembly required is simple enough for those that aren’t scared of mechanical objects – but be warned – some patience and learning is required (as with any bike not from a bike shop). I embraced that and have enjoyed the learning. Also be warned that there will be small additional costs which I will detail shortly, but realistically, some are completely unavoidable regardless of bike in this price range. This is because it is an inexpensive bike made with some inexpensive parts. My additional costs included a new bike seat that wasn’t like a wooden board on my behind, different tire inner-tubes, and better rim tape (most of this I never knew existed a short time ago). The new bike seat was a huge difference. The stock rim tape failed early and would not allow the tire’s inner-tubes to get full pressure without catastrophically popping (part of my “learning”). Remember, some of the more benign stock parts are also cheap. Bike seat: < $15. Rim tape from local bike shop: <$3. Inner tubes: ~$5.
The bike is lighter than I imagined and rides great after some tweaking. Then again, within reason, I didn’t need to spend extra dollars here and there to save a few ounces of weight. This was for leisure riding and exercise, afterall. Will the gear shifter and brakes need some tuning? Probably. Either your local bike shop can do it, or hop on the web and find out how to do it yourself. An allen wrench and/or screwdriver is all it takes. After a few rides and some tweaking, everything seems perfect.
For size: I am 5’10″ and I have the seat up fairly high. The bike frame seems to be on the slightly smaller side, but please note that I have no expertise or reference in this regard. That said, I feel like it fits me just fine. Michael Jordan would probably not fit so well.
The bike looks sharp and rides well with just a little bit of effort, and has otherwise been a joy. With gas prices the way they are, honestly, this bike will have paid for itself within a few months – not to mention meeting my goals of bike education and exercise. Will I upgrade? Maybe in a while. But for now, this bike is more than adequate and I am rather happy with the purchase and the time I spend both on it and with it.

This is a great bike! It shifts well, the brakes are outstanding. It’s only “sore spot” is the seat which this 72 year old replaced. The brakes adjust easily and exactly as to how you like them. Care should be taken until you are use to how well they will stop. This is not a competition bike. It is however a comfortable (with new seat) pleasent quality bike.
Highly recommended.

Easy to install, the seat is a little uncomfortable, but you get used to it. It rides very good on the road and in bike trails.

I purchased this specific bike based on the many positive reviews available. I just wanted to add my positive comments that this bike offers a smooth ride, and to date has been worth the investment. Assembly was extremely easy (~20 minutes), and bike was ready to ride without any other tuning of spokes, etc.
One down side is the lack of shocks. You will feel every bump in the road, but the bike moves with much less effort than the mountain bike I replaced
I recommend this product.

UPDATE 8/16…
I really recommend that you buy a used bike if you’re new to riding and looking to see if your interested or go out and buy a quality bike from your Local Bike Shop as this one really can try your patience with all the repairs you have to do. I haven’t had a ride yet witout a flat.
I’ve had this bike now for a month or so and have put around 60-70 miles on it and have to say it is really a 3 star, maybe even 2. I have had alot of flats, even after changing the rim tape and putting on new tires. The threads where the pedal connects to the crank stripped out when doing a 30 mile ride, the threads just broke off, which made the pedal wobble and break. I’ve now had to replace the crank which I should get on Monday. It really seems like I’m spending more time working on this bike than I am riding it.
Anyway, don’t get it get a used one or a really good new one.
Let me start with the Pros:
- Light weight
- 700c Tires (great for road riding)
- Good colors and paint
- Easy to assemble
- Great parts for price range
Cons: Not so many, but I’ve only had the bike a few days and haven’t gone on any long rides yet.
- Very hard seat (Cheap and easy to fix)
- Assembly of drive train not the best. (for leisure riding it’s ok, but I would recommend you either take the bike to a Bike Shop for tuning or learn to do it yourself and tune the deraillers (and brakes) before any long rides) Keep in mind, I mean the assembly as to how they are put on the bike, not the quality of the parts.
Thats really all I’ve noticed so far.

I think this bike is a great $250 bike for beginners to use for commuting or recreational riding. Yes, you can get better, but not in the less than $350 or so range.
I personally bought the bike to begin commuting to work and didn’t want to put out a lot of money until I know for sure I will keep it up, later I can buy a new bike or upgrade the parts as they break. The short rides I’ve taken so far it rode very smooth, stopped very well, and the seat wasn’t too bad for how hard it is.
If you’re in a similar boat as me, then I would buy this one over any other bike in the same range.

I have only had the bike for about a week and a half, and probably have somewhere around 30 miles on it so far. I will need to make minor adjustments as the chain rubs on some of the gears (just needs some tweeking). Other than that the only issue is the seat that is seriously the hardest seat I have even been on. If you buy the bike, either go ahead and get a seat cover or another seat from the start….or atleast know that you will probably be needing one. All in all the bike seems really solid, the welds on the frame are uniform, and the bike is very sharp. Normally I have buyers remorse on any purchase like this, but not this time. If I had it to do over again, I would buy the bike in a heart beat.

wow, what a great road bike. I purchased this bike just a few weeks ago for an alternative way to get to work since my transmission went out on my car and I couldnt afford to fix it or buy a new car. Easy to assemble and I have no prior bike experience. I’m 28 years old and haven’t owned a bike since I was about 13 years old. I can’t reaally compare this to others but I can say this that this bike is extremely light weight at about 42 pounds with thin tires to pick up speed quickly. I absolutely love this bike and the gears are easy to change and the bike handles the road very well but the schock’s aren’t the greatest and you will feel every bump on the road. the only thing I could recommend to replace from day one is the seat. The seat is hard as a rock and after a few miles your butt will feel like its on fire. Other than that this bike is great for the road, bike trails, or commuting to work just replace the seat. All in all I give this bike two thumbs up and highly recommend it.

This is my first time writing a review. I purchased this bike a few days ago and can’t be more pleased with the purchase. I took it on about an 8 mile ride (had to break it in). I wasn’t sure what I was getting into having previously only owned mountain bikes. I love the flat bar system, being that I am a pretty big guy (I’m about 5’10″ and 240lbs) I know I wouldn’t like the standard road bike handle bars. The 700c tires get you up to speed effortlessly. I was riding with a good friend of mine who owns a mountain bike (I let him ride it and it convinced him into buying a road bike). Riding downhill was a thrill no need to pedal just let the tires do all the work. I bought the bike wanting to get into a new hobby and also getting back into shape after having knee surgery and gaining about 40lbs. I would recommend taking it to your local bike shop to get a tune up, averages about $40. The only negative I can think of is while I was riding I noticed the chain would rub in certain gears. Having looked and shopped around online and at the local bike shops this bike was definitely worth every cent. Overall, the bike was a great buy for the money, very durable, very comfortable, and very fun!!!
